Andrew Jordan, born on the 24th of May 1989, is a BTCC driver set to compete in the 2014 Season. Jordan enters the 2014 season as the champion, having won the 2013 Driver's Championship.[1]

Current Season[]

Jordan is to compete in the 2014 BTCC Season sporting the number 1, having won the championship the previous season.[1] For the fifth consecutive season, Jordan will be competing for his father's run team, Pirtek Racing.[2] Alongside him for this season will be Martin Depper, running the other Honda Civic, prepared by Team Dynamics.[1] He currently leads the championship, having won the first two races of the season at Brands Hatch.[1]

Background[]

Jordan is the son of former BTCC driver Mike Jordan, whom he would eventually drive alongside in the BTCC.[2] Having competed in numerous Rallycross championships since 2003, Jordan entered the BTCC radar after two seasons in two of the BTCC's support championships: the SEAT Cupra Championship (2006) and the Renault Clio Cup (2007).[2]

BTCC History[]

Jordan first entered the BTCC, competing for John Guest Racing, in 2008, taking two podiums in his debut season.[1] In this season, Jordan ran alongside his father for the team, his name replaced with "Young Man" in the rear window. Jordan would then go into the history books the following season, becoming the youngest driver to qualify in pole position at the 2009 meeting at Donington Park.[1] 2009 was the only season in which Jordan has not raced for Pirtek Racing, instead competing for VX Racing in a Vauxhall Vectra.[1]

For 2010, Jordan returned to his father's team, running a Vauxhall Vectra with an NGTC engine, which would be required to compete in the championship in the following season.[2] His maiden victory in the BTCC would come at race three of the Croft meeting during 2010, with a second victory at the season finale at Brands Hatch.[2]

2011 saw Jordan partnered by Jeff Smith, again running Vectras.[2] Other than a race win at Donington Park, 2011 was a mediocre season for Jordan, finishing sixth in the final standings.[2] 2012 saw the partnership retained, although the team began running one year old Honda Civics from Team Dynamics. The season saw Jordan take the Independents' Trophy, a feat he would achieve again the following year.[1]

By far Jordan's best season, however, was 2013, which saw him claim the overall drivers' title at Brands Hatch.[2] Six wins over the season, alongside numerous pole positions and fastest laps meant that Jordan took the title with a single race left in the wet at Brands Hatch.
