Lea Wood is a driver in the BTCC and first winner of the Jack Sears Trophy, having won the Super 2000 class in 2013.[1] In 2014, with S2000 cars becoming ineligable to compete, Wood is competing in an NGTC Toyota Avensis.[1]

Current Season[]

Wood is competing in the 2014 season for Houseman Racing, using an NGTC machine for the first time.[1] Wood failed to score points in the opening round, with 22nd his best finish from the weekend.[1]

Background[]

Wood began competing in Karting, before competing in Hotrod racing across England.[2] From 2004, Wood entered the BRSCC Super Silhouette Championship, taking the title after three years in 2007.[2] From this, Wood entered the Renault Clio Cup in 2008 before entering the BTCC in 2010 (after a one off appearance in the Welsh Sports & Saloon Car series).[2]

BTCC History[]

Wood entered the BTCC in 2010, using a Honda Integra bought by his family run team Central Group Racing.[2] However, Wood failed to take points in his opening season, a trend which would continue until the fourth meeting of 2011, where a seventh place saw Wood ultimately finish the season with four points.[2]

Super 2000 Swan song[]

2012 saw Wood begin running a Vauxhall Vectra, a move which saw him become a regular point finisher in the series.[2] It would be 2013, however, the Wood got his first silverware in the series, clinching the Super 2000 only Jack Sears Trophy.[1] He dominated the Trophy, taking eighteen "wins" (highest placed S2000 car) in the 30 races of 2013, becoming the first winner of the Trophy.[1]

A lack of points in 2013, and the requirement to run an NGTC equipped car in 2014 saw Wood enter the season with a Toyota Avensis.[1]
