Geoff Williamson was a former British Saloon Car Championship driver and race winner, competing from 1959 to 1960.[1] Williamson used an Austin A40 during his time in the championship.

Background[]

Williamson was already well known in the world of motorsport before he entered the BSCC in 1959. Williamson had competed in numerous sports car events since 1954, building a respected reputation in the world of sports cars.[2] In 1959, Williamson began obtained a drive with Alexander Engineering Co. who were to run cars in the BSCC during 1959.[2]

BTCC History[]

Williamson's first race came at the Crystal Palace meeting of 1959, with Alexander Engineering entering an Austin A40 on Williamson's behalf.[3] The move proved successful, with Williamson taking victory in his class (and the race overall).[3] Two more victories emerged from the rest of the season, with Williamson opting to continue with the series.[3] However Williamson would only appear in the championship twice more, with a show of his potential at the opening round of 1960, where he drove from last to third in his A40.[4]
